Brief overview of the Project

Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone will be a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose logistics facility located in Taweelah, 40 km North East of Abu Dhabi. It is one of the largest construction projects in the world. The project is spread over a large area and comprised of more than 56 buildings all different in nature and use.

The complete MEP works of the on-shore civil and buildings package were undertaken by Specon on a Design and Built basis with a very challenging period of completion. The project’s major buildings such as the Container Freight Station (CFS), which included high level installations at 9m height, and associated offices and work shop were part of the first milestone handed over in February 2012. The rest of the buildings were handed over by the end of the same year and included the Emergency Support Facility for Civil Defence, a permanent maintenance facility for ADPC, Passport and Immigration for Customs and Police Department, an extremely sophisticated Control and Crises Management Building, Large Data and Communications Centre Building and potable water & irrigation pumping stations.
