Brief overview of the Project

The Construction Program of the National Neurosciences Institute at the King Fahd Medical Center includes highly complex facilities such as Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cardiac Center, Laboratories and Offices Buildings and a state-of-the-art Proton Therapy Center. The aim of this unique project for the region is to deliver a comprehensive medical facility of the highest standards in the world.

The project comprises of:

  • 2B+G+11 Floors Neuroscience Center of an area of 72,000 m2
  • B+G+11 Floors Cancer Center of an area of 30,000 m2
  • 2B+G Proton Therapy of an area of 10,000 m2
  • B+G+6 Laboratory and Administration Building of an area of 60,000 m2
  • A Central Services Building
  • An underground Car Parking of an area of 45,000 m2

The bespoke MEP installations of the project fall within the expertise and experience of Specon having executed a wide range of specialised health care projects in the region, and include the design verification, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of transformers, RMUs, standby generators, LV distribution systems, UPS, access control, CCTV, master clock, nurse call, infant tagging, public address, structured cabling, IPTV and fire alarm systems, HVAC works including chilled water generation plant via water cooled chillers and cross flow cooling towers, airside works including AHUs, FCUs, CAVs, VAVs, CCUs, fans,  sound attenuation, steam generation and distribution, hot water generation and distribution, fire fighting works including Class III standpipe system, sprinklers network, Clean Agent Protection, Foam System, Building Management System (BMS), domestic water services storage, treatment and distribution, drainage systems, medical gases and fuel handling systems.

The project is executed in a JV with Drake and Skull International.
